A New Emotional Beginning

The Ace of Cups appears in a reading to herald a new beginning in life to do with love, relationships, or emotions.  What this new beginning is can only be determined by reading in conjunction with the other cards in the spread.

The Ace often appears when a marriage is coming up, or someone is about to embark upon a new relationship. However it doesn't always have to be in a romantic sense.  For example, the Ace of Cups could appear in a reading foretelling the birth of a child, or a new friendship that's on the horizon.

The Ace literally means, "your cup runneth over", in other words, the person this card is depicting will be surrounded by warmth and love at this time and enjoy a very deep new emotional commitment or tie.

Relationships

The Ace indicates a new wonderful chapter in a relationship reading. It could be  meeting someone new and falling in love, or that there is a marriage or engagement; or it can demonstrate a new beginning, a new chapter in which enriches  relationships.

Reversed

When the Ace of Cups appears reversed, it means that  someone is not in a place spiritually to accept the new love and opportunities that the Universe is wishing to bring to them.  They are unreceptive to Love's cautious knock.  They need to open up their heart and release their fears.

Suit Traits

The suite of Cups are represented by the element water.

The traits of cups are:  Love, Emotions, Relationships, and Intuition.

The star signs of Cups are:  Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio.

The physical traits of Cups are:  Fair skin, fair hair, light eyes.
