Life Colors - What The Colours In Your Aura Reveal, by Pamala Olsen
To see auras effectively, you must be in a room well lit with natural daylight. A full length mirror is preferable. Stand in front of the mirror about six feet away from it, preferably with a white or neutral coloured background. Take a moment to relax and centre the mind. Blink your eyes a few times, and mentally tell yourself you intend to view your aura.
Look at your reflection, just above your shoulder and past your face - as though you are looking at something behind your reflection. So, you can see yourself, but peripherally. Now, slightly un-focus your eyes deliberately, enough that you are aware of your image blurring slightly. Don't do it too much. Only take your eyes just very slightly out of focus.
as you continue to gaze, you will become aware of a "haze" around your head - like a thin band of heat wave. Keep relaxed; do not focus on it or it will disappear. You will see the "heat wave" begins to expand several inches. You are now very close, the aura will begin shortly, so keep relaxed, remember to blink.
The aura will begin quite suddenly, coming forth from around the head and shoulders. Most people who are just beginning to see auras only see part of the aura; do not be disappointed if at first, all you see is what appears to be a misty outline or heat waves: it can take time to develop skill at seeing the aura.
Some people start out practicing on their hands and this can be very effective. Hold your hands out in front of you and slightly unfocus your gaze. Be looking around the tops of your fingers, not straight at your hands. You will first notice the etheric "heat wave" see through bands around your fingers. Touch your finger tips together; you may see the etheric aura meld together. Slowly draw your fingers apart, looking in between your fingertips as they part. As you get better at this, you will see long strands of aura stretching between your fingertips.
PRACTICING ON SOMEONE ELSE
Its a good idea to let the other person know you would like to practice on them, otherwise you might look a little strange staring so intently!
Have your friend stand in natural light against a plain wall. Unfocus your eyes a little bit, and gaze just above their head and around their shoulders - like as though you are looking past them. Try to relax and don't forget to blink! Remember that when the aura begins to come in, it will be quite sudden, and at first you will immediately focus upon it and it will instantly disappear. This is frustrating but happens to everyone. Eventually you will learn not to automatically focus on the aura straight away, but to allow it to come in properly.
At first, you will notice the etheric body, a thin "see through" band like a heat haze around the top of the head and perhaps the shoulders. This will thicken to a few inches or so. After a few moments colour will begin, quite suddenly, around the head. It will quickly envelope the shoulders.
When you are beginning, the head and shoulders will probably be all that you see at first, as you will then lose your concentration and the aura will disappear. That's fine and normal! Don't worry about it and keep practicing. You can also practice on friends and family who are seated or doing normal things, but this is a lot harder, especially when they are moving around. Make sure they know what your doing or you'll look weird!
PRACTICING ON BUILDINGS
This is probably the easiest way of all to start out seeing auras. Its easy to see the thin auras that are around buildings, especially if they are backlit by a clear blue sky on a sunny day. Most buildings have a thin blue aura. All things have an aura, because all things contain energy and atoms. Things that are not "alive" have very thin auras which do not change much (there are exceptions to this rule. Some very talented seers can see the auras of buildings in a different and more in depth way, sensing the "energy" of the people inside them.)
Stare just above the building, and over it; slightly unfocus your gaze and stay relaxed remembering to blink and breathe normally. Pretty quickly you will see a thin band of colour around the building, usually blue. Notice that buildings and (and in fact any inanimate unliving thing) do not have an etheric body (the thin see through heat band that is observable around humans before the aural colours begin.)
What you are now looking at is the principles behind Feng-Shui. This is how Feng-Shui was developed - all things have a vibrating energy and this energy is observable through the aura. The placing of items changes its energy vibration - this is why you can set up your house or office with your furniture and items set up as harmoniously as possible.
