Chakra One:  The Root Chakra (Muladhara)

The Root Chakra is located at the very base of the spine, in the centre of the body.  It is RED in colour and its element is EARTH.  This chakra is known as the Root because it connects you to the earth; it is what keeps you grounded.  This chakra deals with our earthly existence and survival, and our practical needs and wants.  The concept of this chakra is ROOT, and the sense is SMELL.  Physically within the body, this chakra represents blood and bone;  feet and legs;  the rectum and the lower back. 

BLOCKAGE:  Can occur when a person is too concerned with their material needs, or has a material lack in the life;  or when a person loses touch with the earth;  or when someone has impractical ideas and dreams and is living outside of reality. 

Chakra Two:  The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

The Sacral Chakra is located in the sex region, in the centre of the body.  It is ORANGE in colour and its element is WATER.  This chakra's energy is sexuality and emotions.  The concept of this chakra is CREATIVITY, and the sense is TASTE. It deals with our feelings, sexual desires, sensuality, sensations, and movement.  Physically, this chakra represents the sex organs;  pelvis; lower back;  and the urinary system. 

BLOCKAGE:  Can occur when someone is obsessed with sex;  or if a person has sexual problems;  it can also block when a person is obsessed with another person, or with self gratification;  it can also block when a person cannot handle their emotions, having either too much or too little. 

Chakra Three:  The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in line with the belly button, in the centre of the body.  It is YELLOW in colour and its element is FIRE.  The energy of this chakra is ego, self identity, personal power, willpower, and metabolism within the body.  The concept of this chakra is WILL, and the sense is SIGHT.  Physically this chakra represents the bowel and digestive system;  the pancreas and liver; the gallbladder, kidneys, and spleen, and the middle back. 

BLOCKAGE:  Can occur in a person who cannot control their temper;  and becomes consumed with anger or the need for vengeance.  It can block when a person has problems with their ego and self identity, either a self-inflated ego or low self esteem.  It can block when a person allows themselves to feel like a victim or indulges in self pity;  or if a person gives up their power to another. 

Chakra Four:  The Heart Chakra (Anahata)

The Heart Chakra is located directly in line with the heart in the centre of the chest.  It is GREEN in colour and its element is AIR.  The energy of the heart chakra is love, balance, and unity within the mind and soul.  The concept of this chakra is LOVE and the sense is TOUCH.  Physically this chakra represents the heart, lungs and circulatory system;  breasts, upper back and shoulders, and arms. 

BLOCKAGE:  Can occur in a person who yearns for a life partner and is consumed with loneliness; in people who have a lack of empathy and compassion for others;  and in persons who feel apart, distanced, and "different" from everyone else. 

Chakra Five:  The Throat Chakra (Vishudda)

The Throat Chakra is located directly in line with the Adams Apple, in the centre of the throat.  It is LIGHT BLUE in colour, and its element is ETHER.  Its energy is communication and creativity.  The concept of this chakra is COMMUNICATION, and the sense is HEARING.  Physically this chakra represents the throat and neck including the glands and thyroid;  teeth, gums and esophagus. 

BLOCKAGE:  Can occur in a person who is having communication difficulties of any kind;  is having difficulty in being heard, or hearing the voices of others;  in a person refusing to listen;  and in those experiencing a creative block. 

Chakra Six:  The Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

The Third Eye Chakra is located in the fore-head, above and directly in the centre of the two eyes.  It is VIOLET in colour, and its element is MIND.  Its energy is physical and psychic seeing.  The concept of this chakra is SEEING, and the sense is INTUITION.   Physically, this chakra represents the ears, eyes and nose, the brain and the nervous system.  Full spine, and learning problems. 

BLOCKAGE: Can occur in a person with vision problems, either physically or psychically;  the Third Eye Chakra is rarely fully open in anyone.  Can also be blocked in a person who loses touch with their intuition. 

Chakra Seven:  The Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

The Crown Chakra is located in the top and centre of the head.  it is PURPLE in colour, and its element is SPIRIT.  Its energy is spiritual enlightenment, knowledge, self awareness, and wisdom.  The concept of this chakra is UNDERSTANDING, and the sense is BEING. Physically, this chakra represents the skin and muscles and energy. 

BLOCKAGE:  Can occur in a person who loses touch with their spirituality;  and in a person who is having trouble learning, or acting with wisdom and sensibility.
