Why Do We Dream?

There are many theories on why we dream, but the truth is no one really knows for sure.  Most people agree however, that our dreams must serve some purpose; the most likely being a reflection of our inner thoughts and emotions which we are not aware of when we are awake.  Some people however, feel that our dreams are more than that, and that we can receive messages from angels, guides, and passed on loved ones; and even that we travel in our dreams, to other places, where we connect with others or learn.  Some even believe that we go to another plane when we dream, that our unconscious mind escapes our body in some way and we are able to travel to other planes of existence.  

What Are Dream Symbols?

Dream symbols are anything that stands out in your dream.  If something seems significant in your dream, such as a building or a vehicle, or anything else, then it can be thought of as a dream symbol.  The art of dream interpretation has been around for thousands of years; all of us awaken sometimes and think, "what did that mean?" about our dreams.  There can be many different interpretations for symbols, however; and the best way to decide which one is correct for you is to go on your instincts and gut feeling.  

What Can Our Dreams Tell Us? 

Our dreams can be a reflection of what is going on in our waking life, and give us insights that we may have missed.  They can serve as a warning, or they can bring us reassurance.  Many people even dream prophetic dreams of things that actually happen in waking life.  Paying attention to our dreams can enrich our lives by keeping us connected with our inner psyche.
