A

The Letter A represents new beginnings in your life; starting again; starting something completely new.  The Letter A can also mean success, top marks, and approval.

Abandon

To dream that you have been abandoned suggests that you have a fear of being left behind in some aspect of your life.  It can mean that you are feeling excluded lately, or not part of the group, and the anxiety of being ignored and overlooked is seeping into your dreams.  People who have recently lost a loved one to death sometimes dream of being abandoned, as part of the grieving process.

To dream of abandoning others in your life, means that you are feeling overwhelmed by them and need to have more time to yourself doing things that you enjoy.  Parents often dream of abandoning their children and suffer terrible guilt about these dreams, but they are extremely common and are no reflection on parenting skills.  The dream is merely reflecting your unconscious resentment and desire to have time to yourself.

Abdomen

To see your stomach in your dream means that you are spiritually or emotionally hungry for something.  To dream of exposing your stomach to another person means that you crave more from them in some way, and also that you trust them and are prepared to take risks for them.

Abduction

To dream of being kidnapped can be an unconscious desire to escape a situation in waking life.  It can also mean that you are feeling out of control in some way, and that someone else is taking charge of you.  The dream is an indication that you can either relinquish your control or take it back, the choice is yours.

To dream of abducting someone else means that you are trying to control a situation in waking life and force your will in some way.  The dream is a warning to not be too forceful in this issue or other people may feel you are being too pushy.

Abhor

Dreaming that you loathe someone else is usually a reflection of how you really feel about that person in waking life.

To dream of being hated by others is a warning that you should watch the way you come across, as you may not be aware that others are feeling quite negative about you.

Abnormal

To dream of strange abnormal things such as shapes that make no sense or dreamscapes that are alien means that you are opening your mind and thinking outside the box.  It is a sign of heightened awareness and psychic ability.

Abortion

To dream of aborting a baby means that a dream you nurtured is now being abandoned.  You have given up on something and decided to let it go.  Painlessly aborting in a dream is an indication that this doesn't worry you much and you will quickly move on.  Seeing blood represents the emotions; and the more blood the more emotional you feel about this loss.  Newly pregnant mothers can dream of this simply as an anxiety dream, and that is a normal part of being pregnant and nothing to worry about.

Above

To dream you are up high and seeing something from above means that you have risen above the situation and are able to detach yourself from it.

Abscess

To dream of any kind of abscess in the body means that there is something you are holding back that you need to talk about and release; perhaps a trauma, or emotional upheaval, which never properly healed.

Accident

Dreaming of being in an accident is an indication that you are "headed for a fall" in your current course.  It means you are not seeing the bigger picture and are unaware of the disaster ahead.  The dream should be taken as a warning to slow down, be cautious and pay more attention; there may be hidden circumstances that you are unaware of.

Accounts

To dream of bank accounts or bookkeeping means you are "keeping a tally" on how people treat you.  This dream symbol can occur when you have feelings of resentment about somebody and would like to "bring them to book" and hold them "accountable" for their actions.

Acid

To dream of seeing acid, getting it onto you or drinking it, means that you are afraid of or have been "burned" in some situation in waking life.

Acorn

Acorns represent rebirth and a deep connection to the earth.  It can mean that you should get more in touch with the earth by spending more time outside.

Acrobat

To dream of seeing acrobats symbolises that you are "jumping through hoops" for someone, or dodging your responsibilities.

Addiction

To dream that you are addicted to drugs either reflects your waking life, or means that you are afraid of losing control and not having power over yourself.

Addition

To dream of adding up or counting something means that you are trying to make sense of something in waking life that isn't "adding up", a reflection of 2+2=5.

Adopted

To dream of adopting a child symbolises that you have embraced something as your own such as a dream, an idea, a belief, or even something material.

Adultery

To dream of committing adultery means that you aren't being honest in a situation in waking life.  To dream of your partner committing adultery can be a reflection of your waking fears.

Age

To dream of suddenly getting older or to dream of yourself looking much older means that something is weighing upon your mind and making you feel tired and weary.  It can mean you are over working and not paying enough attention to the things that really matter.  It is a warning to take time to stop and smell the roses.

Air

To see wind or feel air in a dream is a symbol of mental action and thought.  It can symbolise study, intelligence or the fact that you are putting a lot of thought into something at the moment.  If it is severely windy it can indicate you are having trouble coming to a decision.

Airplane

Dreaming of airplanes means that you are flying high right now and succeeding in your endeavours.  If the plane crashes, it is a symbol that your hopes have crashed and burned; and that you have been on the wrong path.

Alarm

Dreaming of alarm bells means you need to take notice of the intuitive alarm bells that are going off in your mind in waking life.  Pay attention to what makes you feel uneasy.

Alcohol

To dream of seeing yourself drinking alcoholic beverages means you are trying to escape from your problems by distracting yourself.  The fancier the glass and drink, the more you are making an effort to not see what is happening or going on.  This dream can indicate you are drinking too much in waking life also.

Aliens

Dreaming of seeing aliens is a symbol of someone or a group of people who aren't as they outwardly appear.  It may be becoming apparent to you that you are different from a certain peer group or that they do not share the same values or interests that you do.

Alligator

Dreaming of an alligator means that someone in your life pretends to be a friend but is in fact an enemy waiting for the right moment to bring you down.

Amber

Seeing the stone amber in your dream means that you need assistance in your life with clear thinking.  If you dream of any kind of stone or crystal you should get one as soon as possible.

Amethyst

Seeing an amethyst in your dream indicates spiritual growth and awakening; if you don't already have this stone, you should try to get one and keep it near you.

Amnesia

Dreaming that you have amnesia means that you are trying hard to put something that happened behind you and forget about it because it is painful to you.

Amputate

To dream of a body part being cut off symbolises transformation and change in your life; it can mean you feel separated or disconnected in some way, or that you are getting rid of thoughts, attitudes or material items that you no longer need.  The more blood that is involved indicates the more emotion and pain that is involved with this "letting go" and "releasement".  Painless amputation is a sign that it right for you to be moving on and releasing.

Amusement Park

Dreaming that you are in an amusement park can mean that your life is fast paced and hectic at the moment.  Dreaming of getting onto amusement park rides symbolises repetitive and ceaseless routines and a feeling of "going nowhere".

Angels

Dreaming of angels is extremely lucky and beautiful and indicates that you are spiritually connecting with them.

Anger

Being angry at someone in a dream is usually indicative of anger felt in waking life, often suppressed.  People who are diplomatic and good at holding their tongues often dream of yelling at the offending people!

Animals

If you dream of an animal take a note of it; animals are totems and bring us messages that we can make use of.  Look up your animal totem and see if you can work out what the message is for you in your waking life.

Ankles

Dreaming of breaking or injuring your ankles means that you feel as though you are on "shaky ground" in some aspect of your life; you need to strengthen your foundation.

Apocalypse

Dreaming of the end of the world, such as wars or firestorms, indicates a deep transformation within your own world.  Something has changed dramatically for you, either spiritually, emotionally, or physically.

Asthma

To dream that you are having difficulty breathing can literally mean you should go to a doctor, if you do have asthma.  Otherwise, it symbolises feeling constricted and trapped in some way, and unable to be yourself.
