Denial Of The Truth

The Two of Swords symbolises a person in denial of the truth.  They are afraid that the truth will hurt them, and so they choose to remain in ignorance, or they choose to believe lies.  Not only are they in denial, they will fight anyone who attempts to remove their self inflicted blindness to their situation.

When this card appears in a reading, the person it  is depicting is afraid of change and clinging onto old beliefs in a desperate attempt to pretend that nothing has changed in their life.  They will most likely reject the truth even if brutally confronted with it;  they are not ready to know the truth of their situation;  they are deeply fearful of how such truth could impact their life.

A person who is ruled by the Two Of Swords will not thank anyone who attempts to remove their self inflicted blind-fold.

Relationships

When the Two of Swords appears in a relationship reading, it means that a person is hiding the truth from themselves in some way.  They know that something isn't right, and they know that if they find out what it is, it will change their relationship;  so fear keeps them from attempting to resolve the situation and learn what's really going on.

Reversed

The Two of Swords reversed indicates that a person who has been in denial is finally beginning to "see the light" and is ready to face the truth.
