What Are Chakras?

The concept of chakras come from an ancient written Indian tradition known as the Vedas. Chakras feature strongly in Kundalini yoga and are believed to be the psychic energy centres of the body. Each chakra corresponds to different levels of consciousness, developmental stages of life, body functions, and more. To find out more about chakras, go to Chakra Descriptions.

Using Crystals In Chakra Work

Crystals are used with chakras for crystal healing to take place. For this to happen, firstly the chakras must be balanced within the body. Chakras can be balanced by carrying out a chakra meditation exercise (see Chakra Meditation.) Once this has been done, then crystals can be introduced and a crystal healing exercise can begin. A corresponding crystal is laid on the body at the places of the chakras; and then Chakra Meditation is performed.

FIRST OR ROOT: Ruby, garnet, red jasper, black tourmaline, smoky quartz.

SECOND OR SACRAL: Carnelian, bloodstone, amber, citrine, orange calcite, topaz.

THIRD OR NAVAL: Citrine, amber, golden topaz, tigers-eye.

FOURTH OR HEART: Peridot, emerald, jade, rose quartz, adventurine, kunzite.

FIFTH OR THROAT: Lapis Luzuli, sodalite, moonstone, aquamarine, sapphire, turquoise, kyanite, chrysocolla.

SIXTH CHAKRA OR THIRD EYE: Amethyst, diamond, blue calcite, lapis Lazuli, Angelite.

SEVENTH OR CROWN: Pearl, amethyst, charoite, clear quartz, selenite, sugilite.
